Bryce Dallas Howard is continuing her commitment to taking red carpet styling into her own hands. At last weekend's Golden Globes, Howard presented the trophy for Best Director (Chloé Zhao made history when she won for Nomadland) and wore a dress that she snagged on TheRealReal, a fun fact that she shared on Instagram today. It's just the latest in what seems to be a tradition for the actor who's been handling her red carpet styling for a few years, even for big-ticket events like the Golden Globes and the Critics' Choice Awards.
"As many of you know, I love the sustainability of consignment fashion and often find secondhand pieces for press," she wrote on Instagram. "When I found out I was presenting at the #GoldenGlobes, I immediately went back to my tried and true friend, @therealreal!"
She went on to explain that she chose the Temperley London cocktail dress herself, bought it — which is rare in a world where designers dress celebs — and paired it with a pair of Alexander McQueen pumps that she already had in her closet.
"Tonight's 'fit is a @TemperleyLondon sequin ombré dress (which matches my hair!) with magenta @alexandermcqueen pumps from a press tour a few years ago," her caption continued.
Back in 2016, Howard made headlines at the Golden Globes when she shared that she'd purchased her Jenny Packham gown at Neiman Marcus. That opened up a conversation about her not being sample size and wanting to have more options available to her, not just what designers were willing to lend her.
"I've alluded to this a little bit before, but when you're not a sample size or if you don't have a direct relationship with a designer or if you don't have a lot of notice — those size 6 dresses aren't available," she said on the Critics' Choice Awards red carpet, where she wore a Balmain dress that she bought at Forward by Elyse Walker. "I like having lots of options for a size 6 as, opposed to maybe one option."
